John LeCarr,at 85,was just interviewed on NPR and had some fascinating comments about President Rump. Hope you didn't miss it. Interesting reading that Smiley is still around. Still can't get out of my mind Orwell's comment in, I believe, "The Lion and the Unicorn", made the prescient comment that although the British Empire made a number of mistakes running its empire, the entities that would replace it were far worse. With both now run by oligarchs, both guilty of torture and "targeted killing" i.e murder, its hard to ignore Orwell's genius and prescience.

Query: Where are the christian 10 commandments in public buildings,or,more intellectually asked by Harper's magazine in an article six months or so ago "Where are the Christian intellectuals"? It seems God did indeed die, in , of all places, right here in America as not predicted by anyone I've read. Now which commandment was "Thou shall not kill". I'm not an expert om these matters but my parents did ensure that I understand as much as any reasonably intelligent six year old church going child would. I wonder if Jimmy ever asked Amy what she thought? She was a little more intelligent than I've ever been about nuclear weapons. Too bad we have no moral standing against the arguments that North Korea is making these days.
