Shortly after 7 p.m., police said they were called to the parking lot of Whole Foods, 399 Post Road West, on a report of an infant left unattended in a vehicle. Upon arrival the officers found the vehicle unlocked and running with the infant inside, police said.
The weather at the time of the incident was approximately 84 degrees, however the interior of the vehicle was cool as the air conditioning was on, police said. According to witness statements the infant was alone for approximately seven minutes. Kunajukr exited the store and returned to her vehicle a short time after police arrived.
Cell phones make being a snitch too easy, too quick, and too anonymous. god forbid we just take a few minutes to hang out and make sure everything is fine before calling the cops.
Okay, I'll try to think. The woman left her car running and unlocked. Forget about the baby, nobody does that unless they intend to be right back. We've got to assume they've got car thieves in Westport. So the mother would have assumed that too. So she knew the baby was in the car and she knew she just had an errand that would last a few minutes. But what if it didn't? What if she had to wait in line, had a stroke, whatever? Better leave the car unlocked. Better safe than sorry. Would a car thief drive off with a baby asleep in the back? Ridiculous. The only thing that could possibly go wrong is some busy body calling the cops, and the cop turns out to have a single digit IQ, and so does the judge he hauls me up in front of. The odds of all that are the same as being hit by lightning.
Well sorry dear, you beat those odds. Look at it this way though, at least it's better than lightning.
Less dangerous than a climate denying congressman - why aren't we arresting THEM?
