Cocoons Are For Insects

How many times do I have to say this? Loosen up, people. Have you ever tickled a cute little toddler? Been on a high school football team? What are you, some kind of sex fiend?

From Flagler Live:

More broadly speaking, however, is an issue that plagues both children and adults at summer camps alike: for fear of litigation, local interpretation of a state code very strictly forbids adults touching children, in any manner.

Even to apply sunscreen to a burning child.

From the New York Times:
The players, both 17 at the time of the episode, had been charged with aggravated sexual contact and aggravated assault, among other crimes, and were tried as juveniles by a judge behind closed doors in Middlesex County family court.

Seven Sayreville players, from 15 to 17 years old, were accused last fall of attacking members of the freshman football team in a ritual that involved jumping and beating the younger players, groping their genitals or penetrating them from behind with a finger poked through pants. The scandal stunned the suburban town of 44,000 just southwest of New York City.

Not sure what you're getting at here. Yes, the first example is one of perhaps excess caution. But the NYT story? The acts against the freshman football players described in the article are filthy, sick and disgusting. Yes, shoving your finger up someone's butt without their consent is sexual assault, not boyish hijinks.

Or maybe you are contrasting the two, like one is excessive concern and the football story describes actual bad behavior? It doesn't come off that way. Seriously, please rethink this post. You don't seem like that guy. If you think stuff like that is OK, you have a serious problem.

Ay-ay-ay,slow down a little bit!
"....for GEAR of........"?????
(send it over and I'll point out the obvious typos before
you publish!)
Love your insights and articles in general!

Thanks, Giulio. I cut-and-pasted the quote from Flagler Live without noticing "gear" for "near," which oversight I am about to correct. I also tacked an "s" on the end of "forbid," stickular that I am.

Thanks for your work,stickular!
I am also of the opinion that "fear of litigation"in many areas
is a nuisance that can become a nightmare.
Today, however,I am more upset about one other of your favorite
topics on this site;STUPIDITY with regard to leaving kids/animals
in cars for extended periods of time.A police dog just died because
of a STUPID person! This makes me applaud when a shark or bear
takes a human out!
