Go here for a long and frightening Wichita Eagle story about a hometown boy who didn’t have to run away to seek his fortune. It was right there in Wichita, piled up for him by his daddy, Fred Koch. The word bully never appears in this profile of son Charles. It didn’t have to. It rises from the page.

Somehow, the Koch brothers' (all three there is another one running around quieter than his brothers but just as evil) family fortune was founded when papa worked for the Soviets building refineries, drops through cracks.

Huge profits. Then he decided he didn't like the soviets. That is where he got his money to start an American oil company.
