I know a fellow down in South Carolina that used to work in high school for the guy that had a contract to paint the sides of old barns like that with advertising, especially Coca Cola signs. Farmers were glad to get the free paint job on one side of the barn and Coca Cola didn't have to pay the cost for putting out freestanding signs.
20 years later, after a stint as a schoolteacher and high school coach, he had enough of that and went to New York to show his art on the sidewalk and one of the galleries there picked up his work, sold his first painting which was a big hit, an old barn like this one with a Coca Cola sign painted on the side called disappearing America. Now he paints and sells advertising art paintings for a living. But keep the "not gone yet" pictures coming. They tore an old stone barn down near where we live here and I could knock myself on the noggin' for not getting some shots of the barn before they took it down. It's a shame when great old architecture like that barn is neglected and lost forever. Thanks for the picture. There are a lot of old barns like that where we live, in fact there's a dairy right down the street from us with an old barn. I never can get enough of this architecture from a simpler time.
I have a folder with nothing but barn pictures in it. I've turned around so many times these days I get confused which direction I was going.
Looks like the grass is growing really well.
