Try This and Next Time There'll be Spit in Your Soup

The Opinionator at the New York Times directs us to the top ten conservative blog themes of 2008 from an article in The Village Voice. My choice for the winning entry is Number 9. Check out all ten at the Village Voice, link above, and let us know your favorite.

#9: The Cheapskate's Guide to Civil Disobedience. In the late days of the campaign emails circulated about a guy who pissed off an Obama-supporting waiter by giving his tip to a bum instead. Haw haw! Rightblogger Dr. Helen discussed undertipping waiters, maids, gardeners, etc. if Obama won as a way for rich people to express their displeasure. “If we had deployed this strategy six months ago the election would not even be close,” said Ghost of a Flea. Actually this one panned out: the election wasn't close. Maybe voters figured Republicans don't tip anyway.

I have to go with #2: National Review's Lisa Schiffren, & her Pop-Phrenology-based analysis of the family dynamics involved in Julie Nixon Eisenhower's endorsement of Obama. Granted, there was more Crazy, by volume, displayed by some other contestants this year; But! Adolescent penis-envy (#7) is a bit too common amongst this crowd to qualify for an award as prestigious as this. Numbers 4, 5, and 6 were simply too obvious to qualify as serious attempts at Crazy. Hillary, Michelle, and Rachel earned their stripes in the trenches, and any serious wingnut effort to discredit those scars would have had to confront the general public's admiration of them, and make a quasi-cogent defense of the Right's attempt to brand them as Cold-Pussied, Penis-Killers. Actual combat being Kryptonite to wingnuts, it was predictable they'd offer only these sadly obvious hit-jobs by way of political arguments. As to Megan (#3), well, I guess you suck the penis what brought you. To my mind, and I welcome disagreement, Sciffren's work is the only sample that combines the requisite levels of historical illiteracy, self-loathing, and monarchial ideation to qualify her for a place in this (very serious) category. I proudly cast my vote for #2. Though I must congratulate the "Obama is a Socialist/Muslim/Manchurian/Terrorist" crowd for their dedication. You'll never get within 6 feet of a conscious woman's vagina, but you remained true to your beliefs, so, good for you (Bwhahahaha....)
