Washington Gov Punts
Bad news for Seinfeld freaks and all you freaks at the Westboro Baptist Church:
Washington state officials placed a moratorium late Friday on permitting any more holiday displays inside the Capitol this year.

An atheists’ sign placed near a Nativity scene sparked a controversy after commentators on Fox News drew attention to it. Afterward, Gov. Chris Gregoire’s office was flooded with nearly 15,000 phone calls from people nationwide who opposed the sign.
The moratorium in effect denies space to several requests, including one for a sign that says “Santa Claus will take you to Hell” and a “Festivus” pole. Festivus is a mock holiday popularized by the “Seinfeld” sitcom in the 1990s.
I must object in the strongest possible terms to referring to Festivus as a "mock" holiday.
In popular history, Santa Claus is some guy riding around the sky in a sledge driven or drawn or whatever by reindeers or kangaroos and giving out free (I ask you!) presents to children.
Now, while this may seem slightly unreal and crazy, it doesn't sound really dangerous. Rather pretty harmless.
But of course the the Westboro Baptist Church knows better!
Actually, Santa Claus saved three criminals sentenced to death by ripping the sword out of the executioner's hand. Now that's a really dangerous man, don't you think? These three might have been terrorists planning to murder the Holy Pope! Or the President! I mean, as a plot for a Hollywood-jailbreak-movie it sounds pretty thin, okay, but a man taking justice in his own hand is a man taking you straight to hell!
We should all support the Westboro Baptist Church in their just cause as long as there is still time. And my middle name is Claus, so you better believe me!
Regarding Festivus: In my opinion, Seinfeld was about the most boring and pointless show ever. Obviously many people feel otherwise, but it failed to interest me on any level.
The Westboro Baptists are the best candidates for sterilization I can think of.
thank you for pointing out this update.
i have been following these holiday hijinks with much amusement. i am sure the folks running the washington state capitol are glad to have an end of it, for this year anyway.
