I haven't read the book The Wrecking Crew by Thomas Frank, but I’m wondering if anyof our readers has bought it yet and have any comments? It looks to be an informative read. Thanks to Neddie Jingo for the link to the video and the tip on the book. I noticed that Barnes and Noble has an 8 cd audio abridged version for all you commuters out there.
I just finished it. As cynical as I am, as much as I've been paying attention, as much as I've been making as many of the same points as Frank on various message boards for years -- and in idle conversation since the eighties -- I was amazed and appalled at the depth of depravity and delusion that has characterized our friends on the right for a generation or more. I would recommend this book very highly.
While I'm recommending things, "Before the Storm" by Rick Perlstein is indispensable for understanding how the Republican party got to the sorry state it's in now (and took the rest of the country with it.) Perlstein, by an interesting coincidence recommends Frank's book. ("Nixonland" is next on my to-read list.)
