Land That I Loved

Bush has spread his filth from Bagram and Abu Ghraib and Guantanomo all the way back home to the Republican National Convention in Minneapolis/St. Paul.

Watch the girl holding the flower — not violent, not impeding in any way the slow march of the cops, anonymous behind their beetle masks — but merely holding out a flower.

Watch the vicious little shit in blue amuse himself by spraying her in the face with pepper spray. Now watch the same cowardly torturer, still safe and unthreatened behind his armor and his gun, as he delivers another long dose of agony, this one even more gratuitous, on the bare back of the helpless girl as she retreats in pain.

And be proud you’re an American.

What is so striking to me about this outrageous Nazi like conduct, both in appearance and act, is that the United States had hundreds, if not thousands of journalists and undoubtedly other personnel and operatives scouring China looking for human rights violations leading up to, during, and after the Olympics. If anything occurred that was even remotely as abusive as the series of videos coming out of St. Paul, I have yet to see them. Not only have we lost the moral high ground, we are proving to the rest of the world we are taking the lowest road possible short of murder, although that too might have occurred in St. Paul and we just don't know about it...yet.

These folks treat the constitution like a piece of toilet paper. I see the shit all over it and am afraid that it is close to being flushed.

You can't really expect journalists to ask questions when they know that God's on their side.

I'm sure anyone of age remembers the famous picture of the demonstrator placing the flower in the soldier's rifle at a demonstration in the 1960's.

Contrast that with the flower greeting the goon in 2008.

I can imagine that the soldier chuckled at the situation in the 60's. All I can imagine inside these heartless jackboots is pure hate and evil.

So sad.

That girl was a fucking retard. Shoving a flower at an onrushing line of heavily-weaponized, armor-plated thugs is like waving a hot dog at a grizzly bear. She's lucky that pig didn't tase her ass just for grins.

NEWS FLASH: the '60's are over. Your grandparents' America is gone. You have no rights. You do, however, have a brain. Start using it!

Vaclav Havel said memorably that one should go on living as if one lived in the society where one wishes to live.

That pig-cop is a GOPer, for sure.

That is the true face of the GOP.

Thanks for publishing this. Not a great way to start the day. I've heard the sheriff was toast before the convention because of corruption(?), but add this to the charges.
