I presume he just decided to come out of hibernation. Or do they hibernate, or just enjoy nice long rests when it's cold.

I took this a couple of weeks ago, as he was looking out of a crevice in the tree. He would have come out of hibernation at least by April, which would have been a nice long rest, I guess. Often it's a really long rest; mortality is high during hibernation.

To Noel — glad you like it. Curiously enough, some people don't enjoy snake pictures. What's up with that?
