Here, for your viewing pleasure, is Not Alex. It’s the antiMcCain, antiwar ad from MoveOn.org which is being called tasteless by the conservative punditry. Being called tasteless by it/them is of course like being called ugly by a frog.
Personally I thought the ad was (1) tasteful, (2) fair, (3) well-produced, and (4) effective. What’s more, (1) the baby was cute, and (2) I fell in love with the young mother.
So, as Thomas L. Friedman might say, and did, Suck on this, okay?
And just what, pray tell, does the conservative asshat class find tasteless about the ad? I suppose it's the recognition that the lives of people's children are at stake.

Posted by: DMS on June 18, 2008 1:05 PMI saw the ad for the first time this morning, and it brought tears to my eyes. As of today, 4,101 Alexs killed. Why?
McCain's people have been complaining that he never really said we'd have combat troops in Iraq for a hundred years. True, he didn't. But what's the difference to Alex and his mother whether he's killed by resistance fighters trying to end a foreign occupation 20 years from now or whether he's killed by resistance fighters trying to end a foreign occupation today? This isn't a war. It's a military occupation today and it will be one as long as we remain in Iraq.
