Why Settle for Pale Imitations?

Lets say youre in favor of letting the states legalize abortion and and drugs and same sex marriage if they want to. And you favor an immediate start to our withdrawal from Iraq. And you think the telecom companies should be punished for warrantless wiretapping. And you hate the Patriot Act for its gutting of civil rights. And no matter what the Creep from Crawford thinks, you think habeas corpus belongs in the Constitution after all.

Folks, have I got a candidate for you! Hes an Iowan born and bred. He went to high school in Iran. Hes a former CIA spook and federal prosecutor. Plus hes a proud member of both the NRA and the ACLU.

Ladies and Germs, lets hear it for the only candidate whos really got your back Big. Bob. BARR!

Is it too weird, Dear Friends? After putting everything he had into impeaching Clinton for having sex, and ignoring the perfectly good reasons to impeach both Clinton and the Bushes who preceded and followed him, Barr has become a dissenter. Whisky Tango Foxtrot?

Is it a foregone conclusion that the Libertarians will nominate him? A lot of them have been all worked up over Ron Paul, who has all-but-endorsed Barack Obama but if he endorsed Bob Barr that would be very entertaining as it will completely sap John McCain and lay out a roadmap for libertarian rightists to exit the Republican party.

Okay, just looked at their slate this year and I have to go with Steve Kubby as my endorsement for the Libertarian nomination. For whatever it's worth.

I'm withdrawing that endorsement. It's stupid of me. I think Bob Barr would be more interesting and would have a lot to answer for in regards to his past behavior. Let's encourage this dialogue.
