Dubya Cuts Him a Little Texas Tooth

President Bush at a press appearance in Crawford with Prime Minister Rasmussen of Denmark:

Q: Thank you, Mr. President, and thank you for bringing us to the great weather.

THE PRESIDENT: Yes, back to Texas, man. I cut his teeth in Texas. (Uneasy Laughter.)

(Actually the transcript doesn’t say “uneasy.” I just figured the laughter had to be uneasy, because otherwise it would have to be servile, and these guys and gals of the press are watchdogs, not cringing curs.)

WTF is that anyway? Carl Rove at the dentist?

Sort of, but not really. Apparently pet rats don't get enough roughage to keep their teeth from growing through their skull or something, so you have to trim them. For detailed instructions, go to www.ratballs.com/RatTails/Tails089.html , and good luck.

I saw that press opp. The president actually said (talking to the other reporters about the reporter who was asking the question), "He cut his teeth in Texas." I took it to mean the president was noting that he knew the inquiring reporter from years ago when he was governor in Texas.

That part wasn't weird. What was weird was that the president of Denmark speaks better English than the president of the U.S. (though I suppose that's true of most world leaders right now.)
