Does it Matter?

There are many ghosts from the past who speak from the grave. May they forever haunt the souls of those who gave their voices a ghastly immortality.

In the main staircase of Widener Library at Harvard is a martial painting with Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori written underneath. Not written is what Wilfred Owen called this: "The Old Lie." Our progress is not upwards, but circular. In Wilfred Owens' and Siegfried Sassoon's war was it was called "shell shock," and they were its poets. In Bush's and B.D.'s war it's PTSD, and Gary Trudeau is its poet.
