Monique Frugier, whose work has appeared on Bad Attitudes previously, sends a video collage of photographs from the march in Washington taken this past Saturday, September 15, 2007. She's gone to the trouble of uploading the video she created with her photographs to YouTube (below). More of Monique’s videos are available here. You won't find this kind of coverage on your television, in your papers, or virtually anywhere else. But you’ll find it here. Thanks Monique!
Jesus, it's so depressing. I've been to three of these marches, the first in March of 03 in Washington as Bush was about to launch his war, the second the following year for the GOP convention in New York, the third in Washington just before the 2006 election which was supposed to change everything but changed nothing. I would bet that some of the signs in Monique's video are the same signs I saw before.
I admire her optimism. I no longer share it. We have met the enemy all right and sure enough, once again, he is us.
Posted by: Jerry Doolittle on September 17, 2007 9:18 PMI don't know you, Jerry, but I'm sorry that the right-wing has gotten to you. The enemy is not "us"! That was always a stupid, self-defeatist saying, typical of the buttoned-down 1950s, when I was a teenager. It was invented by a notorious right-winger, Walt Kelly, POGO's creator. He was a Southerner, a NeoCon(federate)! Don't let that kind of person tell you that Freedom Is Slavery! Or, he can tell you anything, but you don't have to believe it. Resist!
The enemy is NEVER those who stay active as the dissenters and protestors of criminality, exploitation, uncaring, and evil. You can get over the Walt Kelly inflicted burn-out, Jer. Dave Cline must have known burn-out now and then, but he kept on. HE WAS NEVER THE ENEMY. I'm 71 years young and I INTEND TO KEEP FIGHTING AS LONG AS I'M ABLE, and I don't do diddly-squat compared to Mo. MO IS NOT THE ENEMY. She's tireless and simply incredible. As always, thank you, Mo! There are people who are not your enemy in all walks of life, everywhere, even some politicians--DENNIS KUCINICH IS NOT THE ENEMY.
YOU ARE NOT YOUR ENEMY!
When about 70% of Americans want the Iraq War to end soon, when similar percentages want to impeach the bastards who began it with lies, we must be doing something right. We have changed minds, turned the public around. Now we gotta work on Congress.
There are many ways to fight, Jer, and it doesn't have to be only with marches and signs. It can be with a song, a bit of doggerel verse, a soaring poem like one of R.W. Dennen's, a letter to the editor, visits to your Congressman's office, phone calls, a neighborhood organizing committee, studying the history of dissent and telling people about it--the list of things to do is endless. The important bit is not to stop.

Jerry, you and I went to the same protests. I will never forget the inauguration of this criminal Prez. of ours. Did I cry!.........
I am tired, very tired, mostly emotionally but also physically but the magic wand in my veins (yup! adrenaline) takes over when I need to do what I believe is the right thing to do. I never missed a protest since 2000. Cannot, will not as long as I live here. But I am seriously thinking of selling my home and get out of what used to be the America of my dreams. And when I do, it will not be because of defeatism but because I know that I have done all I could and hopefully would have touched some younger souls who will take over. It is said that people always come back home and I am feeling the desire to do so as I keep on wondering when and how long will I ask myself when is the time to go.
