Iowa front runner Mitt Romney ran into a voter the other day who asked him why not one of his five sons, ages 26 to 37, is serving in the armed forces.
“They’ve chosen not to serve in the military and active duty and I respect their decision in that regard,” was the candidate’s truly inspiring response.
Romney, who didn’t serve in Vietnam because he was a Mormon missionary to Paris at the time, modestly added that his sons are serving the nation “by helping me get elected.”
Romney is especially proud of son Josh’s hardship duty as he tours all 99 Iowa counties in a Winnebago.
There will be no reaction from the other Republican presidential candidates who, with the exception of John McCain, also support sending other people’s children to war.
