At Least That’s What Happens Generally…

Hey, kids, here’s a fun new game! Go to Fundrace 2008 and type in your last name where it says “Last Name.” You will be taken to a list of the contributions made to the 2004 and 2008 presidential races by persons whose last names are, for example, “Doolittle.”

Continuing with our example, seven of the Doolittles contributed to Republicans and the other 18 gave to Democrats. The skew is heavily Democratic, much more so than in the country at large.

Why is this? My theory is that kids with family names that sound funny to other kids are likely to grow up suspicious of the status quo and unconvinced of the world’s fairness. Smarter, that is, than the Smiths and the Joneses. The latter, in natural consequence of their docility and intellectual torpor, are doomed to become generals while the Seymours and the Doolittles remain insubordinate privates.

For some reason the Batards seems to be a chinchy lot, at least that's what the chart says. But I have a friend who picks out young Democratic candidates who live in his red state county. Usually first time in a race. Barring a miracle, sure losers. And donates. Small but helpful amounts.

For some reason that guy prefers giving to losers. He can't figure out why he does that, but it makes him feel better. Can Dr. Jerome the shrink offer him any advice?

Take two reality pills and call me in the morning.

Well, actually, that was reality. Some snark there but mostly true.

I'm an early riser. That other character who's also know as Buck, the drinking one, would post in the early evening to about 11. Maybe earlier in the day on the weekend.
