There’s a small river down south that I grew up on that I have a special fondness for. Fishermen there tell me that a certain breed of catfish that was introduced into the river some years ago has multiplied and taken a devastating toll on fish resources in that river. Bottom feeders have taken over the river and practically destroyed the native fish population.
Behind the Times pay-to-play firewall today is a story by David Greenberg which contains an interesting link to a video of a 1972 CBS Walter Cronkite News broadcast covering the Nixon reelection campaign. Four minutes into the video you will see an interview with a familiar face, the then head of the College Republicans, who should have been prosecuted for his crimes in 1970.
The country is paying a heavy price for allowing bottom feeders to inhabit and thrive in the nation’s political system. Bringing back the life giving river of national prosperity that we have enjoyed for the last 230 years is a daunting task, simply because we allowed the bottom feeders to multiply and almost destroy one of our great national treasures. The big bottom feeder is in the trap. It must be destroyed. The river must be saved.
End the Republican party. Those who honorably voted Republican in the past but who had no part in crimes can speak for themselves and join or form a different party if they desire, and it would be a welcome check upon the system.
