I went to this year’s Rutabaga Festival Parade in Cumberland, Wisconsin, and you didn’t, so here’s some of what you missed. You also missed a whole bunch of free Post-Its and Scotch tape that people from the 3M corporation threw into the crowd.

Posted by: Buck on September 13, 2006 6:31 PMUnfortunately they didn't have a float; just a trailer with the signs.
Posted by: Jerry Doolittle on September 13, 2006 7:09 PMYou're just assuming we weren't all there.

Posted by: Larry Davis on September 14, 2006 10:46 AMAnd thank you, too, Larry. And for my next number, probably over the weekend, I'll put up a little gallery that I call, "Why My Grandchildren Are a Million Trillion Times Cooler Than Yours."
How were the Rutabagas?
Posted by: Buck on September 15, 2006 5:05 PMNot bad. Rutabagas, as I presume all civilized people know, taste kind of like a turnip, with a little hint of radish. At each food stall, they put out paper plates of sliced, raw rutabagas. Good, and good for you. The price was right, too. Free.
Posted by: Jerry Doolittle on September 15, 2006 7:23 PMMy dear departed Daddy could cook 'em to taste almost as good as collard greens. Good stuff when cooked up right. Never cared for 'em raw though.
