So exactly what kind of frog is this?

It is, you will be unsurprised to learn, a Green Frog (Rana clamitans melanota). I found him while tearing apart a rotted log near Mohawk Pond, in Cornwall, Connecticut. He just sat still, hoping things were going to go well for him in this best of all possible worlds. This strategy proved to be sound, as I covered him safely back up after taking his picture.
