Word from Down South

The South is such an interesting place. I offer up this “crime report” from a paper in the rural South. May your life be so uncomplicated.

I hope you enjoy these stories as much as I did.

If you read the comments it's not so funny any more. "I brought him (my son) into this worl I can can take him out."

Yeah, some of the commenters are a bit weird -bible belt sounding even though one of them is from California. The theme in the comments is "Praise loving gentle Jesus, but beat the shit out of your children".

That's definitely prevalent in the south and not funny.

That's why I keep thinking I moved to another planet when I left NYC for Virginia last year.

Thankfully, I get back there often enough to be reminded so that I don't wake one day "one of them".

It just came to me - since it's still Easter - these people are truly religious. They are only following the example their God gave to them: to sacrifice their children.
But what never entered my mind before: Maybe God was just punishing Jesus for not obeying him? My God, why have you deserted me? God, the father, as a role model?
Sorry, at the end of Christmas and Easter holidays I always tend to become a little cynical.
