There She Goes Again

Stupid statement of the week:

“Nothing has taken me more aback as secretary of State than the way energy is — I will use the word — warping international diplomacy,” Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice told a Senate committee Wednesday.

Perhaps she’s forgotten the whole oil tanker naming controversy?

…critics said the ship served as a giant floating symbol of the Bush administration’s cozy ties to the oil industry.

“It does underscore that there’s never been an administration in power in this country that has been so close to a single industry — in this instance, the oil-and-gas industry,” Chuck Lewis of the Washington-based Center for Public Integrity said last month when the watchdog organization first raised the issue.

Just what administration does she think she represents? Can they really be this myopic?

She also claimed recently that she is a student of history. Just like George Bush majored in history at Yale. Further, she said that all these mistakes the administration have made may be perceived at brilliant in the future. Or words to that effect.

Chuck:

Nice catch! Does anyone else on the blogosphere have this?

This incredibly stupid remark has gotten very little traction online. NPR did run it the other day and I nearly ran my car off the road laughing. But when I tried to track it down yesterday, Google only found a couple of sites in India that had the quote (which figures since it was in a hearing on India). I'm working on a little piece myself...
