A Failed Presidency

In case you came here for SOTU wisdom, here it is:

Gallup rightly warns against putting too much stock in post-speech reaction polls conducted among debate-watchers, since debate-watchers tend to be heavily skewed by partisanship toward the president’s party. For example, last year’s debate-watchers were 52 percent Republican, 25 percent Democratic and 22 percent independent. With audiences like that, a president is pretty much guaranteed to get a friendly reception, but it doesn’t really mean anything.

So Bush is likely to be stuck with what he’s got. And what he’s got is pretty darn awful. As a spate of extensive pre-SOTU polls have made very clear, his presidency is on life support. In fact, the words “a failed presidency” would not be unwarranted, at this point, in describing what Bush has managed to attain. But don’t just take my word for it–listen to what the public has to say.

A president set on destruction and self-destruction. Nice words, sounding hollow. The instinct of self-preservation by the American people will hopefully bring him down.

There's a guy in a condo a couple yards over who yells at his family all the time. He was rooted in front of his TV during the speech.

Iran, Iraq, Palestine --- easy for him to say/

Perhaps the problem is that our less-than-literate president doesn't know the difference between using the presidency as a BULLY PULPIT and using the presidency to JUST BE A BULLY.

They didn't elect him to run THEIR countries or to make them work the way HE and his fundie Christers want..

WE didn't elect him either, but the people HE (and his henchmen) paid off did the job THEY were paid for -- and put him in office

But HE ISN'T doing the job he's being paid for ... if he were being paid to ask you if you wanted fries with that, he'd have been fired after a week.

He's always been a bully, backed up by daddy's money, but the true Bush is the man we saw who froze for 7 minutes on 9-11 faced with a situation daddy and his friends couldn't buy him out of.

Perhaps that's why he keeps on and on and on about 9-11 -- because that was his acid test and he failed it and it haunts him -- not that those people died so horribly, but that the whole world saw him for the pathetic punkass he really is.
